IMPORTANT NOTE: when viewing this FAQ page on a mobile device, we recommend you just scroll down this page and read from the questions and answers section instead of clicking on each question. We have noticed that on some mobile devices, when you click on a question, the link may take you to our home page.

Q: What is the best way to care for my CDs?

A: What is most important is to avoid scratching the top of a CD. Most of us are aware that scratching the bottom of a CD (where the sound tracks resides) can damage it. However, many people do not know that scratching the top/printed side of a CD can also damage it as well since the data written on a CD actually resides very close to the top of the disc. The top is coated with a metallic layer and lacquer to protect the data. However, scratches, marks, mars, and other damage to the top can penetrate these protective layers and harm the data. So be careful with both the top and bottom of a CD to ensure a long life of use. Always place CDs in their paper sleeve when not in use.

Qs: "I am learning CBT and do not know where to start. What should I order?" -OR - "I am an advanced advanced CBTer and I want to improve my CBT skills in general. What programs should I consider?"

A: Whether a beginner or advanced CBT therapist, we always recommend the Fundamentals. We believe the best way to learn CBT is to master the Fundamentals. These skills transcend protocols. Our Fundamentals programs offer an excellent update and review to those wanting to improve their CBT skills in general. After learning/reviewing the Fundamentals, you can consider other audio CD programs that pertain to the types of clients you are most likely to see (depression, anxiety, children, couples, personality disorders, etc). We have produced 7 audio programs that cover and teach the basic skills needed to conduct competent CBT. Since these Fundamentals are an essential component of CBT, we have packaged all 7 audio programs into a Discount Bundle that provides a 25% savings. Our DELUXE Fundamentals bundle includes 2 additional CBT clinical demonstrations on video DVDs. Take a few minutes and look over FunPak7 and FunPak7 DELUXE. You save 25% when purchasing these Discount Bundles.

Q: "I want to learn more about Cognitive Behavior Therapy with couples. Can the PairPAK help?"

A: The best way to learn CBT with Couples is to learn the principles and methods. These clinical workshops teach theory, stages of treatment, interventions, and troubleshooting. They are an excellent resource for listening to role plays and learning how Drs. Beck and Padesky tread the waters of couple relationships. The programs in the PairPAK also offer an excellent update and review to those wanting to improve their CBT skills in general. As always, we recommend you read about CBT with couples, attend workshops/seminars, as well as seek consultation and/or supervision. Our PairPAK is intended to enhance and augment these resources. Take a few minutes and look over our PairPAK. Order and receive a 22% savings on this Discount Bundle.

Libraries wishing to purchase Cognitive Therapy Training on Disc™ must provide mental health qualifying information and agree to adhere to the following permissions and use restrictions:

Our audio and video training items are for use only by qualified mental health professionals or graduate students in a mental health program. 4. Can my local bookstore / distributor order your CT Training on Disc for me?

No. Our cognitive therapy training discs are sold only to the end user who must qualify as a mental health professional or a graduate student in a mental health field. Unfortunately, we cannot sell our products to companies who then sell the product to the end user since we have no way of controlling who qualifies as a mental health professional. Because of the need to qualify our buyer / end user, we are unable to sell our products to bookstores, distributors, and other intermediaries.

Sometimes buyers wish to order through a bookstore / distributor because they are concerned about the requirement for prepayment in US dollars. Ordering is simple and straightforward. If you pay with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express Card or Discover Card your order is processed automatically in US dollars. There are no additional steps for you to take. Your credit card merchant handles any and all exchange rates.

10. Are preview copies available?

We do not provide preview copies of any of our materials. In order to keep our prices low all sales are final. Generally educational institutions expect to order preview copies of their educational materials. We do not have higher prices for institutions and would have to charge considerably more monies to all purchasers in order to make preview copies available to some. Our mission is to provide high quality Cognitive Therapy Training on Discs™ at low cost to all mental health professionals.

11. Are session handouts available to those who purchase the CDs and DVDs?

We have one Audio CD program that has extensive handouts. They are on a PDF file which is included in Disc 1 of Step-by-Step Model of Collaborative Case Conceptualization (SKU: MCCC)

Currently, we have limited version handouts for several of our Audio CD programs. We do not have any handouts for our DVD clinical demonstrations. To access available handouts, go to https://store.padesky.com/handouts.htm

Otherwise, we do not provide handouts for our CT Training on Disc programs.

Rest assured you are receiving complete information when you listen to and watch CT Training on Disc programs. Dr Padesky always verbally reviews any information that is printed in handouts.

Here are some additional reasons why workshop handouts are not provided:

  • Our DVD demonstration video programs and some audio programs never had handouts
  • Handouts prepared for workshops are time dated and frequently specific to the audience. We know what is on the audio portion of the workshop but to keep handout information updated would be quite difficult and time consuming once a workshop is complete since we have 25 audio CD programs.
  • During a live workshop, attendees have a chance to ask questions about the content and to seek clarification. Our handouts are not intended as stand alone sources of information.
  • Our handouts contain some information copyrighted by others that we are not permitted to sell
  • Many packets were reproductions of PowerPoint slides which create copyright problems for us since we use a lot of images in our PowerPoint presentations

14. When can I expect to receive my order?

Even though we are not a full time mail order company, we make every effort to process orders quickly. Generally we ship orders every Tuesday and Friday. Our current ship dates are always posted on our SHIPPING & TAXES page. Exceptions are listed in red. We send you a shipping notice email when you order ships. Please keep a close watch for your package or Delivery Notice from the postal service.

USA ORDERS: Most orders are shipped First Class Mail through the United States Postal Service (USPS). Expect delivery 1-3 business days after mailing. If your order is over 14 ounces, it ships USPS Priority Mail with a 2-3 average business day delivery. You will receive an email from USPS.com with your Track and Confirm status. Please keep a close watch for your package or Delivery Notice from the postal service.

FOREIGN ORDERS: Most orders are shipped First Class Mail International. This is Air Mail through the United States Postal Service (USPS). Expect delivery 10+ business days after mailing. Depending on your situation & Country, you may receive a notice from your Postal Service (e.g. if you are not home when delivered; package too big for mailbox) and/or from your Country's Customs Department that you have a package waiting. You will receive an email from USPS.com with your "Track and Confirm" status. Please keep a close watch for your package or Delivery Notice from the postal service.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: You are responsible for any taxes (VAT, GST), Customs and postal fees assessed by your country. Your post office will not deliver until these fees are paid.

SPECIAL NOTE - NO SHIP DATES
We do not ship orders between approximately mid-December through the first couple of days in January. No exceptions. Due to the high volume of holiday mailings there is a high likelihood of vastly delayed orders and lost orders. We may accept orders during that time period but will not process or post them until just before they ship. For December's exact no ship dates, visit our SHIPPING & TAXES page.

15. Can I return an item?

No. All Sales are Final. Only products with a manufacturing defect and a Return Authorization number (RA#) can be returned and replaced with the exact product.

16. What is your Warranty Policy & Replacement Procedure?

Any product found to have a manufacturing defect will be replaced free of charge for a period of 30 days from the date of purchase. Items that are returned to us without authorization do not qualify for warranty replacement. See Store Policies for our Warranty Policy statement.

All our Audio CDs and DVDs are professionally manufactured using high quality materials and processes. Manufacturing defects are defined as: disc will not launch or play and/or disc has no sound. Discs which have accidental damage do not qualify for warranty replacement.

If you realize the item is not defective but you are having some sort of problem, follow the recommendations we list in this FAQ page (see #17 "What if I have a defective disc" and #18 "My audio seems muffled" sections below). You can also email us for more self-help details.

If you believe you have a defective item, first read over our FAQ #17 titled "What if I have a defective disc?" As with any difficulty, the first step in problem solving is to try the disc in at least two different types of players to see if the problem repeats itself.

If, after trying the solutions described under the defective disc section, you determine the problem you are having meets the definition of a defective product, send us an email and include the following:

    .> Sales Receipt Number
     > SKU Code (e.g. BEHX)
     > Disc Number (Disc x of x)
     > Detailed description of the defect - what happens? where on the disc does it happen?
     > What you have done to try and correct the problem

Once we receive this information, we can review it and advise you how to proceed

17. What if I have a defective disc?

We are happy to replace a defective disc if that defect is from the manufacturing process and reported within the warranty period.

There are two types of manufacturing defect.

Type A: disc will not launch / play

Check the disc in several other machines. Some older machines cannot play "burned Audio CDs" This is not a defect. Playback is not universally guaranteed. You need to play the disc in a modern player that can play these Audio CDs. If the problem is corrected when using another machine the disc does not have a manufacturing defect.

Make sure you are not trying to play a DVD in a CD player. A CD player cannot play DVDs.

Some older DVD players cannot play NTSC DVDs. This is not a defect. Playback is not universally guaranteed. You need to play the disc in a modern player that can play NTSC DVDs. Most DVD players made in the past 10 years can play NTSC DVDs. Also, all computer DVD players will play any of our DVDs. There are no region restrictions on our products.

Disc still will not launch or play. Now What? If switching to several other machines that are modern, and of different formats (e.g., computer DVD player, stand alone DVD player) does not correct the problem, contact us. See Warranty Policy (FAQ #16) for procedures.

Type B: no sound

Most likely nothing is wrong. See FAQ #13 for sound help.
If after trying all those procedures and you still have NO SOUND, see Warranty Policy (FAQ #11) for procedures.
Discs which have accidental damage do not qualify for warranty replacement.

Accidents such as: left in hot places, liquid spilled on them, damages due to incorrect insertion, dropping, scratches, and/or fingerprints. We realize accidents do happen but accidents are not a manufacturing defect or a warranty replacement issue.

Treat your discs carefully. Always store them in their paper sleeve. Do not set anything on them. Do not store them flat. Handle discs by the edges as fingerprints can damage the surface. Do not write anywhere on the disc.

18. My audio sounds muffled. What's wrong? Can I change the equalizer?

Most likely nothing is wrong. However, your speakers may be playing too much bass. The Equalizer is an excellent way to tune the output for the audio programs you listen to. If you take the time to learn how to do this, it will enhance your listening experience.

Music has a very wide frequency range. The spoken voice has a very narrow range. If your system is set for music, voice only programs can sound muffled, muddy or full of bass. If you do not know how to adjust your audio player, we have listed some popular media players with links to how to make sound quality adjustments.

19. Am I charged taxes on my order?

It depends. We only charge taxes to orders that ship to a California address. If you order ships outside of California, we do not charge taxes. If you order is shipping to a country outside the United States, you are responsible for any taxes (VAT, GST, etc), Customs fees, and postal fees assessed by your country. Your post office will not deliver until these fees are paid. See SHIPPING & TAXES.

20. Is digital delivery (VOD, streaming or downloading) available?

Not at the present time. However, we continue to pursue possibilities and will post an announcement if digital deliveries become a reality.

Unfortunately because of international laws regarding tax payments, it has become incredibly complex for us to set up digital delivery (Video on Demand, streaming, or downloading).

Here is an example of the complexities: As of January 2015, any non EU supplier selling digitally delivered products to customers in EU countries is required to charge and collect VAT. We then need to submit a quarterly VAT return to each EU state. Managing 75 different VAT rates in 28 different countries isn’t easy, especially if you add to this the necessity of keeping a record of all purchasers’ details for 10 years! The safekeeping of those records has to meet extremely stringent security requirements.

The European Parliament launched the new VAT rules to avoid big corporations (think Google, Amazon) from taking advantage of invoicing from countries with a lower VAT. Unfortunately, the rules apply regardless of the size of the business. In other words, there is no threshold. Whether a company sells $1,000,000 or $1 worth of goods, all must comply. As a microbusiness, it is virtually impossible for us to meet all of these demands and especially to find a delivery platform that is structured to meet all of these demands.

Under our present circumstances, in order for us to offer our products through digital delivery, we would be forced to block our EU customers. We find blocking any country an unacceptable option thus we continue to offer our products, via DVDs, to ALL mental health professionals in every country.

21. Do you offer CE credits for any of your programs?

At the present time, we do not offer CEs for our Cognitive Therapy Training on Disc™ audio and video programs. However, it is something we have considered since we are approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. We are thinking that if we do offer CEs in the future, people who already own Cognitive Therapy Training on Disc™ programs will be able to purchase the CEs separately. The DVD programs, as they currently stand, could only offer the possibility of 1 CE per program and we would have to charge too much to make that worthwhile to most people. However, we are exploring this as a future possibility but do not anticipate any changes in the near future.
